"ICA" Seminar July 1st 2006

Wow, maybe I'm writing this a little too soon after the seminar but that was a blast!

I really think that most people just don't understand how technical Ica's game is. They don't realize the years that he has put into developing his guard game and all of the world class people he has worked with to develop a guard game that is easily one of the best in the world. Well, I shouldn't say "most" people because guys like the Dog Brother's Marc Denny and even Guro Dan Inosanto have found themselves on the mat with Ica teaching the class.

Ica gave us several drills that supported and aided in the adoption of the techniques that he taught us. The techniques themselves ranged from the very simple, easily performed by some of the newest and least experienced grapplers, to the most advanced guys there (there were two other blackbelts in attendance).

Ica, like Rigan during his seminar, built drill upon drill and then technique upon technique leading to the development of one solid guard game. This seminar focused on half-guard, x-guard, and guard recovery and while there wasn't enough time to give us a huge number of techniques, Ica taught us a series of techniques that, if practiced, can give the fighter a near endless number of options when they find themselves on their back.

In the last three months we have been able to bring in Rigan Machado and Ricardo "Ica" Medina for two of the best seminars that I have ever been to. Check back often to see who we bring in next and make sure you register early!

SLCBJJ.com and Machado Jiu-Jitsu here in Utah would like to thank Ica for coming out and sharing so much with us, we hope to have him back soon!

And we can't forget Phil Henderson and Mike Stidham. Without them this seminar would not have happened. Thanks guys and I can't wait to see you on the mats.
